HACKING

Foto by CNN.com   Random, yet efficient

The number of discovered security breaches originating from the Internet continues to grow. And almost half of the attacks on businesses in Germany are carried out by hackers.

According to expert estimates, 61 percent of all hacker attacks are carried out randomly – the perpetrators are often so-called script kiddies. This term is used to describe children or youths that download specially prepared code from the Internet, which they then use to break into third-party networks. But seasoned hackers that penetrate military computer systems, carry out their personal quests for revenge against multinational companies, or are involved in espionage or sabotage should not be underestimated either.

The damages incurred annually as a result of hacker attacks reach into the billions.
