Child pornography

Every second, day in and day out, large numbers of files which show the abuse of children are sent around the world. In recent years - due to the increasing number of Internet users worldwide and the triumphant success of Web 2.0 - both private file-sharing and the financially motivated trafficking of child pornography have increased.

In contrast, there are relatively few successful investigations by law enforcement agencies, whose work is still made more difficult by globalization, decentralized organization and the general anonymity of the Internet. Especially the non-uniform worldwide standards for penalties and prosecution facilitate the abuse of the Internet as a means of distribution for child pornography.

International approach, research and prevention

naiin fights against and detects child pornography in cooperation with Internet service and solution providers (ISPs), mobile network operators (MNOs), mobile service providers (MSPs) and law enforcement agencies. In doing so, naiin also depends on tip-offs from the online community: Internet users who stumble on files of child pornography while surfing, chatting or social networking can report illegal content to naiin with just a few clicks.

On behalf of agencies, research institutes, associations and companies, naiin conducts research on child pornography. Their goal is to have mid-range to long-range empirically sound statistics on the actual scope of child pornography and the development of criminal activity. The statistics are intended to help policy makers react to new developments with productive legal provisions. ISPs, MNOs and MSPs, on their side, can develop new technical procedures based on reliable statistics and can test and improve current procedures as well.

In addition, naiin is devoted to preventing the production and distribution of child pornography. To do this naiin focuses on raising public awareness on the one hand. On the other hand, naiin develops suitable technical and legal solutions in cooperation with ISPs, MNOs and MSPs to hinder the distribution of child pornography.
