Whether viruses, hacker attacks or spyware: the security of systems connected to the Internet is threatened by a very wide range of different activities. Organised crime and industrial espionage have long involved the Internet by using the medium to obtain financial advantage by criminal means.

Security vulnerabilities, loopholes and weaknesses in software products help cyber-criminals and spies - but so do the users themselves, when they leave their systems inadequately protected, fail to update their security software regularly or fail to install patches for security vulnerabilities quickly enough.

Cunning criminals exploit this with profits now running into billions, while doing billions worth of damage - to private users and firms, but also to research facilities and public authorities. The methods and technical instruments that they use constantly vary and further development is ensuring that they keep pace in both efficiency and effectiveness.

Creation of awareness of dangers, counter-strategies, research and expertise

naiin sees it as a priority to sensitise private users, companies and public authorities and persuade them to protect their systems from every type of external and internal attack. naiin is also entrusted with the task of identifying the latest forms of attack and security risks, to develop counter-strategies and to work selectively with infected websites as well as online platforms used by the criminal scene.

naiin also works to contribute expertise to help secure the critical infrastructure in the different countries. The cooperation with IT security firms is also a central focus.
